What it is
Out of character: Dammerung is the name of the 'apartment'
(using apartment code written by Jessie of FM) used in the Oloth game
as a place for characters to set as their homes. Any questions about
it can be addressed to Dakini or her player, Collie, via page #mail,
or via email to Collie.
Here are some good visuals for Dammerung:
the outside (the top picture, in blues and greys), and the
inside. These "inside" photos are meant as inspiration for the
public areas of Dammerung. You are welcome to desc your room quite
differently. As an example, Dakini's front room is done in an art
deco style.
In character: Dammerung is an organic entity currently being
used as an apartment complex. It is the property of Dakini Stardancer.
How to get a room
Out of character: First go to Dammerung, on Faern Street's
northern end. Go into the courtyard [dam], then into the lobby
[dam]. Go up 2 levels [dus] [twi] and you'll
be on Twilight, which is the level with the available rooms.
Type dir to see the directory listing. You will see something
like this, although the rooms may be listed as having more or fewer
owners when you look:

To select the available suite of your choice, please type 'claim
<apartment name>'
The directions to take possession of a room are, as you can see, at
the bottom of the directory listing. If you have any problems whatsoever,
please feel free to contact Collie OOC (or IC Dakini), or any admin,
for help.
Within that room you are the builder, and can set things up to your
preference. There is a desc in the room already, but you can either
supplement or replace it as you wish, with a desc of your own. For
other possibilities of things you can do to your room, please check

for a rather "new age" version of some of the runes used, or here for a probably
more accurate version.
In character: To get a room in Dammerung, just ask Dakini.
She's happy to have new tenants, and will gladly show you around so you
can pick a room. Currently there are rooms available only on Twilight
level, but if they all fill up she'll probably ask Dammerung to create
a new level. If you are curious as to the runic meanings of the suite
names, she's happy to discuss that with you also.
How to change your room(s)
Out of character: (Working on this part still...)
In character: Dakini will tell you that since Dammerung is
an organic entity, some 'shaping' to your preference can be done. If
you sit down for a few hours with some skin contact with Dammerung
(your palm/wing/pseudopod will do) and concentrate on how you want your
room to look, then in about 2 or 3 days Dammerung will be able to create
your desired abode. Keep in mind please that Dammerung has limits... you
may create a small suite if you wish, but if you're going to have more
than 2 or 3 rooms, ask Dakini first, please -- and keep in mind she may
have to politely refuse you your request. Flexible though Dammerung is,
even it has energy limits.
Simple furniture can be created this way also. If you desire a couch
pushed up out of the floor, a niche in the wall, or a perch hanging
from the ceiling, Dammerung can handle this. In fact, these are all
requests Dammerung has handled in the past. Detail work, however, is
not Dammerung's forté. As an example, if you ask for a Queen Anne
antique couch, you'll probably not end up with precisely that. Dammerung
will do its best, but your couch will probably have gracefully curvy
wooden legs and a colorful smear of cloth-textured seat, rather than
beveled claw feet and tapestry upholstering. Broad colors and textures are
'easy'... intricate details require more than the unassisted Dammerung
can provide you.
However, bringing in furniture is not a problem either. If you have
a Queen Anne antique couch, please feel free to bring it in! Dammerung
will set your room so that only you can enter if, if you desire. In fact,
Dammerung, as an organic entity, can set your room's environment to your
preference -- again within reason. A complete underwater environment, an
entire forest glade, or a grotto of molten lava would be too much... but
if you like it a bit more warm or wet or stony or bright or whatever,
Dammerung can probably handle it.
If you wish for a more comprehensive change in your apartment, please
feel free to ask Dakini for advice.
How to delete your room(s)
Out of character: You can simply @rec the room(s)
and both exits for each room you own. After that, please notify
Collie via email or p #mail, or
Dakini via p #mail, so that I may fix the apartment code appropriately --
there's a list of props that I have to change, and it's unfortunately
not automatic.
In character: Should you for some reason wish to move out,
simply inform Dakini of this and she will have Dammerung re-absorb
the rooms.
