These things can suck up an incredible amount of your time, if you let them. They're just so darn cute though, and the neopets folks sure know how to cater to some of the baser urges: your pet pleads for you to buy it toys, and food, and other stuff. There are zillions of things to collect on the site, and lots of "rare" items to hunt for, trade, buy, and compete for. Very sneaky.
As an example, feel free to take a look at my neopets shop if you have a neopets login. No guaranee that I've got anything for sale at any particular moment, but feel free to look around. There are hundreds of thousands of shops just like it.
Some day, I may write a short article on why I think this site works, and why I think they're just a bit sleazy.
Oh, if you do decide to set up a pet using the links above, I get a "referral" -- for which I get nothing of value, but they do keep score. I put this page together just to show someone what my pets looked like. I think I gave the link to one other person. So far, over 100 people have used these darn things, and I have no idea who you are!!!
